20 Feet from stardom (2013) Soundtrack

Soundtrack from very interesting documentary that finally celebrated backing singers who worked behind tons of classic hits for other big stars.

Inclusion of several well-known hits like "Walk On The Wild Side" and "Slippery People" were not really necessary since we know them all to well - the meat of this soundtrack are recent tracks where these (now elderly) singers lift their voices in the studio and explode with still preserved fire. Merry Clayton roars with "Nobody's Fault But Mine", Tata Vega is leading irresistible "Let's Make A Better World" where chorus is truly life-affirming and gives you instantly a feel-good kick. Darlene Love is naturally here, with not only new recording but interesting peek in studio chatter behind classic "A Fine, fine boy" where she had to repeat spoken phrase a hundred times. The soundtrack is worth purchasing if only for excellent Lisa Fischer and her piece "Sure On This Shining Light" where she creates a wordless chorus - its worlds away from pop music and a fascinating glimpse in the soul of a true musician.
